Who is IROC Innocross?

IROC Innocross AG is a privately owned company with the vision of: “Helping young patients that are at risk of vision loss due to weak ocular tissue stiffness”

The founders of IROC Innocross have introduced corneal cross-linking, the new standard of care for treating progressive corneal weakening since 1998.

Developed by Theo Seiler, MD, PhD this simple and reliable treatment of progressive keratoconus is based on molecular cross-linking of corneal collagen fibers by combined riboflavin/UVA illumination treatment.

What is cross-linking?

  • Cross-linking of the cornea is a curative approach to re-increase the mechanical stability of corneal tissue.
  • The aim of the treatment is to create additional stability inside the weakened corneal stroma by means of highly localized photo-polymerization.
  • The indications for cross-linking today are corneal ectasia disorders such as keratoconus and pellucid marginal degeneration and iatrogenic keratectasia after refractive lamellar surgery.
  • The use of corneal cross-linking in corneal laser surgery, in preventing patients from getting keratectasia and in making the LASIK procedure safer, is currently under clinical investigation.
